In one sense Telos is very similar to other Christian events: we worship and teach; we pray and we love one another. There are lanyards, a few resource booths and a teacher/leader. Our goal is not to stand out by being different for the sake of marketing or positioning.

But we hope there is one distinctive about Telos Events–peace. We hope this unique aspect of Telos Events is substantive, far-reaching and long-lasting.
Here is what we mean: Have you ever left a conference feeling anxious?  Thinking you could never actually do what was being suggested? Feeling like you are insignificant because the speaker had a bigger church, or better method? That your life or ministry was insignificant, or that your technology is dated? Or even that there were so many new ideas and techniques that you left with more instruction, but less peace?

Telos Events aren’t like that.

There’s not much hype. No success stories. We use a few ancient forms of worship that promote an atmosphere of reflection. And we do Telos together. Kind of like a retreat. We want you to leave feeling less anxious than you were when you arrived. We don’t want to add more busyness to your life! On the contrary, the one main objective of Telos is this: spiritual formation and a missional engagement with the world without adding busyness, within the already exiting rhythms and routines of your life.

So we won’t talk trends and techniques. We will talk about foundational values that will cure your soul, and through you, those of others.

Finally, we’re really into prayer. We see from scripture and from our own testimony that the big moments in life are unexplainable—moments when we can only say “I just felt God.” So we always end our time together with times to meet with God in prayer.
