There’s always a context, an unseen soil from which something emerges—right? This is the back-story of Telos Events.
Since the publishing of my first book, Christianity Beyond Belief, Christian leaders of various sorts have encouraged me that, in order to help followers of Jesus actually live the life I articulate in my books, I needed to “get behind” my ideas and through public meetings get them out as far and wide as possible.
That was, as you might imagine, nice feedback for an author to hear. But I could not see how I could add another element of work to my existing full life. I am already a pastor (Holy Trinity Church, Costa Mesa, CA), a missionary bishop seeking to plant two-hundred churches on the West Coast (The Anglican Mission), an adjunct professor at several seminaries and universities, and an author (four books—the fifth—Our Favorite Sins, a book on temptation coming soon from Thomas Nelson Publishers).
Then came a moment of inspiration—a flash of alignment, possible synergy: what if I could align these events with my church planting work? While Telos events could stand-alone based on the material and goings-on of an event, it is doubly good that the proceeds from Telos Events go to support the work of Churches For the Sake of Others (C4SO).
My story is just one very small part of God’s Big Story and his immense people—the Church. We are all caught up in the unfolding of God’s purposes coming to completion—to His telos. From it we find meaning for our lives. In addition, I hope you’ll join the story of Telos—Living With The End In Mind.
